Oddly enough, this is the first thing I thought of with the title of your original post. It boggles my mind just how good he was. And how much great guitar playing was robbed from us that day. And to think, if it wasn’t SRV in that helicopter it would have most likely been Clapton.

I just started playing some SRV this week for my kids in the car to/from school. The Sky is Crying. They like it.
That album, in particular, was the only tape in the truck I used to plow driveways in high school. I just let it play over and over, I knew every note of every guitar solo in that whole album. I still know which songs were on which side, and I can remember a part of Little Wing that I expect to be garbled because the tape got eaten by the tape deck right there one time.
